Hollywood has another record year

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Even the bomb “The Lone Ranger” didn’t stop Hollywood from setting a new record.

The final ticket sales aren’t yet tallied but the industry is expected to sell nearly $11 billion worth of tickets. That’s an increase of nearly one percent.

However, since ticket prices are higher, the number of tickets sold was about the same as last year.

That’s actually a good thing. Ticket sales had been going down the past decade.

Flops like “After Earth,” ”R.I.P.D”: and “Turbo” were offset by hits like “The Desolation of Smaug,” “Iron Man 3″ and “Fast and Furious 6.”
