Serious need for ‘Speed’

If you ever thought your hobby was a pointless waste of time, the World Speed Project will make you feel better.

Ryan Beitz, the self-described “chairman” of the project, has collected more than 500 VHS copies of the 1994 hit “Speed,” and wants to get his hands on every available copy in the world.

The effort to collect every copy of the film, which starred Sandra Bullock and Keanu Reeves, and grossed $121 million, is a “goal compulsively conceived in the winter of 2007-2008,” according to the project’s Facebook page.

And if you don’t have a copy of “Speed” to spare, you can donate to Beitz’s Kickstarter campaign. He hopes to raise enough funds to turn his van into a replica of the bus from the movie.
